When they were first launched onto the UK
angling scene, these relatively low cost, four-piece rods were greeted with
what could best be described as a 'cool' reception! It's fair to say though
that Shimano have well and truly proved the sceptics wrong, so much so that
several other tackle manufacturers have now started to copy this original
and yes, revolutionary boat rod concept. Sea-angling consultant Dave Lewis
has used his four-piece Exage rods extensively at various destinations
around the world, and has successfully caught blue water species including
billfish, tuna and various sharks, as well as huge cod to over 40lb from
deep Norwegian fjords. So the answer is yes, Exage STC. four-piece boat rods
can handle mid-channel pollack, bass or ling...along with pretty much most
other species you care to use them for! One other big advantage with these
four-piece rods is they can be stowed away out of sight in the boot of a
car, away from prying eyes and temptation.
